LONG-RANGE SPATIAL PLAN MAKING

Course Overview:
Planner's primary role is to prepare and execute plans of different types and nature. This course aims to introduce long-range spatial plans (also known as general or comprehensive plans) and how they are typically prepared. It will critically discuss the plan making process, planning data gathering and analysis, identification of planning issues and opportunities. Setting policies, goals and objectives. Development of future spatial planning scenarios/ options and evaluation and assessment of plan options. The course will also address plan implementation instruments and plan updating and revision requirements.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand spatial plan-making processes and their validity.
  • Learn the nitty-gritty of spatial plan making using real life case studies and demonstration.
  • Learn the specific planning techniques/ methods involved in every stage of plan making.
  • Should be able to apply plan-making knowledge and skills on real situations.
